Here is a book that provides useful information on identification, chair types and origins, as well as an analysis of design and construction. No projects or plans, but lots of excellent photos and drawings for designers and makers. In determining whether a chair was genuinely "Shaker," Muller considers oral tradition, provenance, place of discovery, visual examination, evaluation of design features, historic photographs, and information from written sources. He examines in depth the styles and production techniques of chairs made at ten Shaker communities during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
